About

My name is Ian Weller. I’m currently a high school student in Salina, Kansas, attempting to keep my grades up, keep people happy, and just help others as much as possible. Common avenues of enjoyment for me include watching movies and doing things with friends, designing websites, programming random scripts and software and helping out with the Fedora Project.

Within the Fedora Project, I’ve maintained RPM packages so that users can easily install software with yum, helped the Art Team with system themes and other design requests, and assisted the Infrastructure Team in their switch from MoinMoin to MediaWiki.

I have firsthand experience with many different platforms of software, including the PHP and Python programming languages, XHTML and HTML, CSS, and the Mac OS X, Linux (specifically Red Hat and its variants), and (unfortunately) Windows operating systems. There’s a lot of software I play around with too, most notably Drupal, WordPress, flam3 (fractal software), and much more.

I’m very interested in free and open source software, as both a concept and a way of development. That’s one of the reasons why I try and use completely open source software in what I do. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not easy… but it just seems a lot more ethically right than using software that you can’t see the code to, or you can’t get for free, or both.

In case you were wondering, I hand-coded this site’s design.

If you’re interested, a friend of mine and I have created some music in GarageBand, and it’s available for the world to listen to.
